Medanta moves to Vallila's Konepaja Disctrict – a new phase in growth

Medanta muuttaa Vallilan Konepajalle – uusi vaihe kasvussa

Medanta will move its operations from Arabianranta to the developing Vallila's Konepaja area on March 1, 2026. The new office is located in Train Factory , where trains were once built and maintained.

The large red brick buildings designed by Bruno Granholm were completed in 1901. Trains were manufactured and maintained in the halls until the early 2000s. The area was once one of the largest single workplaces in Helsinki and represents a valuable industrial environment that is over 125 years old.

" We are honored to be part of the area's long history. The fact that the life cycle of these significant buildings continues and new life is built around them is a huge opportunity for us, " says Anu Kivelä, CEO of Medanta.

The wait has been long, as the original plan was to move to the new premises in spring 2025. In a building that is over a hundred years old, the journey to the present day has presumably also included delays. The old train hall’s building services have been upgraded to modern standards, and the functionality of the premises has been ensured to comply with current building regulations. Medanta's new office has 370 square meters. Design and procurement, sales and marketing, and customer service will move there from Hämeentie.

The crown jewel of Medanta's new office is the tall skylights.

The new office is bathed in beautiful spring sunlight, as daylight streams through large skylights running the full length of the space, illuminating every corner. The building’s history and preserved industrial character remain visible in details such as heavy metal pillars, compressed air valves and electrical cabinets. The buildings, brought back into use, were designated as culturally and historically significant in 1993, and in 1998 the Ministry of the Environment granted protection status to the area formerly known as the Pasilan Konepaja, recognising it as Finland’s most significant and cohesive railway environment.

" Historic buildings carry stories and now we get to write our own chapter in them, " Anu Kivelä describes.

Medanta's new office has retained its industrial spirit.

New business and cultural life has emerged in the now protected buildings. The central and developing location is also an opportunity for Medanta. The new location improves accessibility and creates even better conditions for collaboration with customers and partners.

The Vallila Konepaja area offers many opportunities for hobbies, exercise and enjoyment. Train Factory hides in the former machine halls, among other things, an art gallery , a cinema , a climbing arena , a gym and a padel hall. Medanta team waits the restaurant world to opening to downstairs of the office to diversify the lunch offering.

The move is also an investment in the staff. Medanta wants to build a working environment for its staff that supports creativity, collaboration and well-being, and gives the team the best possible framework to succeed in their work.

The new office in Vallila Konepaja is a new beginning for Medanta.

The new office space still echoes empty, but at the beginning of March a new kind of everyday life will fill it with the sounds of keyboards, chatter and the steady hum of a sewing machine. We warmly welcome customers, partners and friends to our new office, Train Factory. The opening will be celebrated later in the spring.
