The goal of Medanta's antimicrobial workwear and patient clothing is to promote health, well-being, and patient and occupational safety.

The antimicrobial finish on our workwear materials reduces microbial growth on the textile surface. At the same time, it helps prevent the formation of odors and keeps the garment fresh for longer.

How does antimicrobial action work in workwear?

Medanta's antimicrobial material functions through a textile treatment containing positively charged silver ions, which reduces microbial growth on the textile surface.

The treatment is applied during the dyeing phase of the fabric. It forms a polymer film on the fiber surface that releases active silver ions.

Silver ions disrupt microbial vital functions, inhibit their reproduction, and reduce the number of microbes in the textile.

The treatment is intended for textile use and is safe for the user.

Triple mechanism of action

The treatment affects microbes on the garment's surface in three ways

  1. It interferes with enzymes and oxygen transport vital for microbial metabolism.
  2. It affects the sulfur-containing proteins of microbes and their structure.

3. It damages the surface structures and cell membrane of microbes.

Lasts over 100 washes.

The treatment is resistant to industrial washing and high temperatures. According to studies, the antimicrobial effect remains at a very high level for at least 100 industrial washings.

Efficacy verified by microbial measurements.

The antimicrobial efficacy has been tested using the SFS-EN ISO 20743 method under laboratory conditions. The test was performed using Orion Diacnostica's Hygicult TPC test. The same test is used in hospital laundries to demonstrate microbiologically clean hospital linen. The measurement used control garments made from the same fabric, which had not been treated. In the self-monitoring of hospital laundries, the limit value for microbiologically clean linen is < 2CFU/cm2.
