In the third part of the Medanta's work fashion makers- series, we introduce Medanta's Key Account Manager, Maria Rantanen. The work of a Key Account Manager, or KAM for short, is a combination of sales, customer relationship management, and business development.
Two years ago, after over 12 years in selective cosmetics, Maria transitioned to Medanta and work fashion. In her previous roles, she worked in sales and as a trainer. Maria's passion for sales was recognized at Medanta, and she quickly advanced from a junior salesperson to an account manager during her probationary period.
"Working in cosmetics, I learned to deeply understand customer needs and build trusting customer relationships. The products sold, like workwear, were literally on people's skin," Maria describes.
For Maria, sales is truly a calling, and she thrives in a goal-oriented environment with just the right amount of pressure. At Medanta, Maria is particularly motivated by being able to concretely impact the customer's daily life. She sees her work primarily as a partnership with the customer. In practice, the work involves developing customer relationships, identifying needs, and building comprehensive solutions. The goal is always to provide added value to the customer.
"I don't just see myself as a salesperson, but as a sparring partner who helps the customer find the best solutions for their everyday life," Maria summarizes.
Maria's clients include various companies from healthcare to the restaurant industry, and hotels, accommodation, and retail. For all of them, it is important that workwear genuinely functions in everyday life: it must be comfortable, high-quality, practical, and professional. When we combine this with strong customer understanding, we don't just offer workwear, but functional comprehensive solutions. Maria emphasizes that this is something customers also notice in practice, not just as a promise.

"Correctly chosen workwear is immediately visible in the daily lives of professionals. They make the workday smoother. I have seen how clothing can even boost professionals' pride and morale," she describes.
In addition, Maria has noticed that more and more often, customers also want to know about sustainability. Medanta distinguishes itself from its competitors in terms of responsibility, especially because the entire workwear production chain is in-house – from its own fabrics to the finished product.
In practice, this means that we can examine sustainability throughout the entire life cycle of the garment and guarantee consistent quality and, above all, durable workwear. For the customer, this is reflected in reliability and the fact that the clothes truly withstand use. This also brings cost-effectiveness in the long run.
"I also see that our customers challenge us to find more sustainable material solutions, create better user comfort, and more individualized solutions. I believe that workwear will become an increasingly central part of a company's brand and employer image in the future," Maria reflects on the future of professional fashion.
Finally, the final question. Maria, what is your favorite tool?
"The phone is my most important tool. It enables quick, genuine conversations with the customer. But above all, the ability to listen is crucial, because nothing replaces direct customer interaction."
