Press release: Valtteri Bottas purchased Medanta reusable masks for the F1 pits

Medanta's antimicrobial mask, developed for professional use, also convinced F1 driver Valtteri Bottas when a familiar sports doctor recommended it. The masks are tailored and branded especially for the formula star, who uses them in the demanding conditions of race weekends, among other things. They are made of microfiber fabric that provides excellent splash protection, is antimicrobial, and is comfortable to wear.

The reusable masks, developed with healthcare professionals, are also ideal for the formula pits, where varying temperatures and situations require special reliability and comfort from the mask.

Medanta Oy, a manufacturer of antimicrobial workwear, manufactures durable face masks from double-layer 4-way microfiber fabric that breathes well, fits comfortably on the face, and does not sweat. The fabric's antibacterial technology forms a film on the surface of the mask that droplets do not easily penetrate.

“ Valtteri Bottas had asked a sports doctor for mask recommendations, and he had recommended our antimicrobial reusable masks. First, we tested the fit of the mask with Valtteri in Helsinki, and then our own design team created a look that matched his wishes,” says Anu Kivelä , CEO of Medanta.

Medanta has delivered thousands of washable microfiber masks customized with company logos and branding in recent weeks.

"In addition to safety and comfort, companies want their own look in masks. We are happy and proud that Valtteri Bottas wanted a Medanta mask for the demanding situations in the pit lane. It is important that popular athletes act as role models by taking into account the safety of their team and everyone else. The use of masks is an excellent example of this," says Anu Kivelä.

In a test conducted this spring by the Spanish, accredited Eurofins research institute, the Medanta face mask filtered 84 percent of bacteria.

The mask has been developed in close collaboration with healthcare professionals at Pihlajalinna. Important requirements in the development have been comfort and functionality, but above all safety.

The face masks are available for sale in Medanta's online store, where they can be ordered by both companies and private customers. The masks are designed in Finland and are manufactured in Latvia and China from fabrics developed by Medanta. Medanta has used the same, reliable manufacturers in China for its healthcare workwear production for several years.

"Durable masks must be washed at 60 degrees after each use. According to our own washing tests, the masks can withstand over a hundred industrial washes. It is worth remembering to order enough masks, as they must be replaced after each use. A cloth face mask helps protect other people from possible infection from the user, and it is also important to ensure good hand hygiene and cough correctly," says Anu Kivelä.
