Looks good! According to preliminary estimates, Medanta Oy's turnover last year was 3.6 million euros. The turnover increased by almost 40 percentage points, or about one million euros, compared to the previous year. Our actual financial statements will be completed later in the spring.
"The growth speaks of strong trust and the fact that we have been able to listen with a sensitive ear to the challenges and needs of our customers. We have also tailored our products and services to our customers' wishes, and that has now borne fruit," says our CEO Anu Kivelä .
Our strong growth led us to hire four new professionals to our team at the turn of the year. Medanta now employs a total of 20 people.
“The most important task is to enable your own team to succeed”
Tiina Karvinen, a management and coaching professional, started in February as Head of Sales and Customer Service in Finland, with the title Business Operations Manager. Her team includes Medanta's sales, customer service and Jämsä laundry staff.
"We have wonderfully skilled people working here. My job is to ensure that our goals are clear to everyone and that clear processes and the right tools are available to achieve them. I think the most important task of a manager is to enable their team to succeed," says Tiina Karvinen.
Tiina Karvinen has previously worked as Customer Service Director at SATO Corporation and Account Manager at Lassila & Tikanoja Oy. She also has extensive experience as a sales and customer service coach in various industries. She also led a coaching project for Medanta about five years ago.
“Even then, I noticed Medanta's passionate way of working. Medanta's owners have decided to be bold pioneers in their field. This is also reflected in Medanta's own collection. It is interesting to be part of this ambitious work,” says Karvinen.
Our other new employees are sales assistant Mari Pääkkönen , social media marketing coordinator Elmo Ropponen , and warehouse worker Kiia Kontuvaara .
Next step: Towards internationalization
Our growth and success has so far come mainly from Finland. The most recent is the NoHo Partners chain, which has around 200 restaurants in Finland.
“Our previous customer relationships deepened even further and we gained many new customers,” Anu Kivelä says of the past year.
Next, we are targeting international markets. As Tiina Karvinen is now responsible for domestic sales, CEO Anu Kivelä will focus on refining the internationalization strategy.
"We will see the first major moves to international markets this year," he promises.
For a sustainable textile industry
Our core values are sustainable development and we are actively involved in developing a sustainable textile industry.
In 2019, we joined the international Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) as the world's first manufacturer of lightweight workwear and the third Finnish textile company after Marimekko and S Group. The BCI standard system is the world's largest cotton production responsibility program.
Last year, we also launched the environmentally friendly Eco Denim fabric, which uses plastics collected from the sea and nature, as well as cotton.
“Our materials have always been woven for our own collections. All production facilities we use have an Oeko-Tex certificate, ISO quality and environmental standards, and they comply with the International Labour Organization's ILO guidelines on occupational safety and working conditions,” says Anu Kivelä.
