Docratee's new workwear improves work comfort and patient safety

Docrateen Heli Littunen

Docrates Cancer Hospital joined forces with Medanta, a pioneer in healthcare workwear, to create a more functional workwear collection for its staff. The aim of the collaboration was to improve work comfort through comfortable and functional workwear. At the same time, the antimicrobial fabric of the clothes repels contaminants and thus also increases patient safety.

The staff's opinion was decisive.

The starting point for the development of Docratee's new workwear collection was to make staff feel comfortable at work and to create a reliable and calming hospital environment for patients.

“It is essential that the clothing fits well for patient work, is the right size and makes the wearer feel confident. This is also important when dealing with patients,” says Heli Littunen , Service Director at Docratee.

The staff was involved in the design process at several stages. A survey on workwear revealed that clothes play a major role in the workplace. They affect not only comfort but also performance. The new workwear collection was designed to address potential issues experienced with previous workwear and provide suitable options for both men and women, based on their roles and preferences.

"The material of the clothing should be breathable, not electric and pleasant to the skin. Fit and posture are important so that the clothes don't just look like they're hanging on you."

“A jacket or shirt should have the right amount of pockets. Comfortable and warm clothes make working more enjoyable. Stylish, lint-free and well-fitting work clothes are an essential part of your image.”

Employees were able to choose their favorites and test out the collection options. Staff involvement ensured that the clothing was well received and met the specific needs of the hospital staff. The company's main visual identity is a deep navy blue, which also works well as a main color for workwear due to its calming and reliable qualities.

Individuality and responsibility taken into account

Docratee's workwear collection includes a variety of garments that are easy to combine. There are options from garments designed for operating room conditions to dresses and unisex hoodies. The collection is fitted and flattering for different body types. Special attention has been paid to garment care.

“Docrate's new wardrobe has made it easier for employees to choose clothes suitable for the day's work,” says Heli Littunen.

The clothes are chipped, making it easy to track their life cycle, washing cycles and durability. At best, the clothes can last for years, which also supports sustainability.

Innovative fabric choices

The new workwear collection is made with Medanta's innovative fabrics. The Medanta Micro 4-way and Medanta Micro Flex fabrics used in Docratee's workwear are antimicrobial, lightweight and breathable.

“We have designed the material to repel contaminants, which ensures the safety of both the staff wearing the work clothes and the patients. The materials have also been introduced with properties familiar from sportswear, making the clothes functional and comfortable – without compromising on aesthetics. An outfit made from the same fabric was also worn at the Linna party,” says Leena Ukko, Marketing Manager at Medanta.

Docratee and Medanta's collaboration extends beyond workwear. Patient clothing and bedding are also designed to be comfortable, aesthetically harmonious and soothing.

Prioritizing comfort, functionality, and aesthetics has helped Docrate create a range of workwear and hospital textiles that not only meets the practical and responsible demands of healthcare professionals, but also positively impacts their work experience, patient safety, and the entire hospital environment.
