Helsinki Hospital, founded in 2014, is a private hospital founded by experienced Finnish surgeons .

Esa-Pekka Pälvimäki, neurosurgeon and CEO of Helsinki Hospital, also highlights the importance of Finnish expertise. One example of this expertise is the face transplant surgery carried out in February 2016 by a professional team of 11 surgeons and twenty nurses, which had been prepared for years. Plastic surgery specialist Patrik Lassus and oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist Jyrki Törnwall, who were part of the team, say that the patient's recovery has progressed as planned and that they are already preparing for the next face transplant surgery.

Patrik Lassus and Jyrki Törnwall emphasize the importance of dialogue between the patient and the surgeon in everything they do. It is very important to openly tell the patient how their illness can be treated, listen to them and map out their treatment expectations, thus also supporting both the patient and their loved ones psychologically.
