When a dementia patient suddenly whispers to their caregiver, “Nice dress!”, we at Medanta know we have chosen the right path.
We founded Medanta ten years ago, wondering why hospital clothing was so impractical and light years behind the development of other textiles, such as sportswear. Now our clothes combine health technology and design. They are flexible, breathable, comfortable and good-looking. The old hospital T-shirts are a thing of the past.
We have worked closely with doctors, nurses and patients from the beginning, and in recent years we have focused on textile safety. In 2015, we launched an antimicrobial treatment that helps our garments prevent the spread of infections.
The decline in the effectiveness of antibiotics is a global threat. The topic is constantly on the WHO agenda, and the UN also passed a resolution on it last autumn. The problem is not only human but also economic. According to the WHO, healthcare-associated infections cost more than 7 billion euros annually in Europe alone.
One solution to the problem is good hospital hygiene and infection prevention. Textile safety also plays an important role in this. Medanta is now receiving inquiries about antimicrobial clothing from as far away as Canada and Africa.
In the future, smart clothing and hygiene services hold many possibilities. At Medanta, the spark of development has turned into passion. Today, our team of eight people is doing everything they can to ensure that clothing for the hospital and care sector is renewed to be even safer, more practical and of higher quality. When health technology and design come together, the sky is the limit.
